COBOL Conversion and Migration
Whether you plan to change the database management system that your COBOL applications use, the teleprocessing monitor that your online COBOL applications use or the entire COBOL language of your applications, ATERAS® has the automated solution to meet your needs. With ATERAS, COBOL applications can be converted to native CICS COBOL (described here) or can be modernized to C# .NET or Java (see COBOL modernization).
If you are replacing an aging database or file system (such as IDMS, Adabas, IMS or VSAM) within a COBOL application, the ATERAS solution includes all changes to your existing COBOL applications so that they process against the new relational database model. For COBOL-based applications that use IDMS-DC or IMS-DC today, the ATERAS conversion also includes a one-for-one conversion from the current TP monitor to CICS COBOL, allowing native CICS processing for the future. The conversion includes screens used in the mainframe environment, including BMS Maps and MFS Maps.
Convert to CICS COBOL
ATERAS uses DB-Shuttle® to convert non-CICS COBOL applications to CICS COBOL, and to convert any COBOL programs or modules so they execute against a new relational database model. Customization options are possible as DB-Shuttle automatically converts your existing COBOL components including programs, subroutines, copybook records and copybook modules. Services that are provided by a non-CICS teleprocessing monitor are replaced with CICS services.
