ATERAS provides a unique solution to quickly and completely modernize COBOL to Java and Adabas Natural to Java.

The ATERAS Java solution results in native object-oriented applications that use Java, HTML, AJAX and JSP on a JBOSS framework. A Websphere option is also available. With our Java solution, there are no "black boxes", no ongoing license fees and no proprietary code artifacts of any kind. The application footprint is small, the Java code is native and easy to maintain, and the applications are delivered to the IDE of your choice (Eclipse, IDEA, JBuilder, etc.) for all future enhancements.

The ATERAS Java modernization solution provides a Java replacement for online legacy applications that are written in COBOL or Adabas Natural. The modernization solution allows the applications to be enhanced and modified during the transition, taking full advantage of web-based processing and the JBOSS framework in the resulting Java applications.

With the ATERAS modernization solution, the resulting web-based applications are fully object-oriented and stateless. A simple architecture provides object-based access to any of target relational databases (either mainframe or off-mainframe databases). All "business rules" (the true business logic) are converted to native Java. All "environment handling" processes related to saving data across the pseudo-converse, counting lines that can fit on the page, and testing to see "what PFKEY was pressed "are eliminated. Conversational legacy processing is also eliminated completely.

With the modernization to Java, the resulting applications can be launched from any web browser. The lines of code in the resulting Java programs are consistently less than the lines of code in the original COBOL programs.
