DB-Shuttle^TM is “rules-based”. Rules are kept at a language level for each language and at a customer level for each conversion. DB-Shuttle uses these rules and the de-constructed customer source code, stored as metadata, to generate high-performance structured programs and components performing the same business functions with newer technologies.

The first step in the automated conversion process is project center; two main phases occur during this step Project Overview and Conversion Rule Definition. This step tracks all information about each conversion project, including customer information, language targets, naming standards, conversion overrides, and rule definition.
